NEW YORK, NY.- Kandinsky, a full-scale retrospective of the paintings of Vasily Kandinsky—the visionary artist, theorist, and pioneer of abstraction—will be presented at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum from September 18, 2009, through January 13, 2010. This comprehensive survey comprising nearly 100 of Kandinsky’s most important canvases from 1902 to 1942 is drawn primarily from the three largest repositories of the artist’s work—the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Solomon R. San Diego News Network Profiles ArtWalk on the Bay
Here’s an excerpt from SDNN’s excellent overview (by Kristina Blake of San Diego’s ArtWalk on the Bay coming this weekend to the marina park by Seaport Village, read the complete article on sdnn.com.
Nothing could be better than taking a stroll through a San Diego park on a sunny fall day, unless, of course, that park is filled with art.
The fourth annual ArtWalk on the Bay — slated for September 12-13 — showcases the artwork of more than 100 artists throughout the eight acres of Embarcadero Marina Park North, which is itself a scenic work of art.
Visitors to the fine art festival will be able to see and purchase a variety of pieces, including paintings, sculptures, glasswork, jewelry and more. There will be something for everyone as there will be live music, beer and wine tasting, and activities for children, too.

Thomas Eakins’ An Actress and Two Works by Mary Cassatt on View at PAFA
More from Art Daily.org:
PHILADELPHIA, PA.- Thomas Eakins’ An Actress (Portrait of Suzanne Santje), is currently on view at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) where it has replaced Eakins’ The Concert Singer. Both paintings are on loan to PAFA from the Philadelphia Museum of Art (PMA), replacing Eakins’ The Gross Clinic, which is jointly owned by PAFA and the PMA.
Per a purchase agreement, The Gross Clinic alternates on an equal basis between the two institutions, and the PMA is to lend PAFA a significant work by Eakins whenever The Gross Clinic is not on view there.
Thomas Eakins (1844-1916) was a student at PAFA from 1862-1865 and a member of the faculty from 1876-1886….

First London Exhibition in Over 40 Years by Juan Genovés Opens at Marlborough in October
LONDON. The Directors of Marlborough Fine Art announced the first London exhibition in over 40 years by the Spanish artist Juan Genovés of 15 new paintings that will open at Marlborough Fine Art, London on October 29. Born in Valencia in 1930, Genovés has been exhibiting with Marlborough worldwide since 1964. This exhibition continues Genovés’ exploration of people in groups, depicted through bird’s-eye views of crowds where the absence of buildings, roads, trees or clues to a common landscape creates a dynamic of intensity and dislocation. The motivations for the groups’ activities are never clear, as Genovés allows the viewer to draw his own conclusions.

San Diego Art Journal: Gadi Veneziano
We caught up with Gadi at Bar Basic’s Graffiti Tuesday. Gadi talks about his works and technique. The texture of his paintings is unreal. He encourages people to touch his paintings as that is as much apart of the painting as the visual experience. Gadi talks about his emotional expression through his paintings. Touch one of his paintings if you get the chance. Amazing depth in Gadi and his paintings. www.artbygadi.com
