CLASS DESCRIPTION

The "New Century Media" class at the San Diego Finishing School helps you build an organized strategy for evolving your small business to thrive in the new economy of the 21st century.

You will learn:

  • Why to bring your business online.
  • What you are going to do there: Blogging, Facebook, Twitter and the rest.
  • How you can quickly build a larger audience for your business.
  • What can happen when you get the online world working for you.
If you know you need to do more with your business online, but not why or how, this class teaches you how to make a "plan of attack" for marketing your creative business using the host of free marketing and publishing tools readily available to everyone online.

Learn what these different tools are, which ones might work for you (and which ones probably won't), and how to use them together to build new audiences for your work and new work for your business.

If you want to learn how to use these tools yourself, you will also learn:
  • Why your time now is best spent on yourself (not an extra job!).
  • What your potential new clients are really looking for.
  • How you can really connect with thousands of people interested in what you're already doing.
  • What to share with them when you find each other.
I will teach you how to save thousands of dollars on outside services from web design to advertising and save countless hours of frustration figuring it out for yourself.

If you're going to hire someone else to design your site or market your work, you still eed to know what you're paying them for in order to get what you want without a hassle. The outline you will develop in this class will help you evaluate both the proposals and the final product of any web design or marketing contractor you intend to hire.

Either way, I will help you initiate a customized strategy for using New Century Media to get you where you want to go with your business as an artist. Every artist has different career goals (though we all probably share a few of the same), and a big part of not becoming lost in all that technology has to offer is being clear about those goals.

My approach helps you both effectively manage your efforts at first and stay on target later.

I will illustrate with real examples from both my clients and my own business how New Media can help you realize your goals faster and more efficiently than ever possible before. Often, this part of the class alone is enough to turn on the light bulb, so the class generally finishes in a discussion/ discovery mode with free-for-all questions and answers..

Using my customized approach means I have to keep each class to 9 people. Students will be accepted on first reserved, first served basis. If the two scheduled dates fill up, I will keep a waiting list in case of cancellations and of course I will schedule additional sessions.

CLASS TUITION $189 per person, paid in advance to reserve your spot.

SPECIAL BONUS for first threee students to register forthis class: FREE 30-minute follow up consultation in person or on the phone. After you've gotten going, I will spend 30 minutes with you on my dime to help you with whatever you want. Goal setting? Uploading pictures? No matter how fundamental or how apparently trivial, if you need additional one-on-one help with something, here's your chance.

(For your reference, I charge $180 an hour for individual "a la carte" consulting, so the 30 minute bonus session alone makes "New Media Strategies and Tools for the Business of Art" a screaming deal.)
